So those who understand the terminology will know that the names don't mean a damn thing, and those who don't will be lost anyway. Don't they focus group these things? I hope this wasn't our dear beloved brand that we've all known since childhood....

I'm afraid it was - the P.C. people that brought us "Indian Red" ...

      Crayola.

I was always confused by the difference between orange-red and red-orange.

I do like the name "burnt sienna," though as far as color loyalties go I switched quite a bit.

Sometimes I huff boxes of crayons at the store. I don't get the same high from older, used, or 'stale' crayons...but a fresh box in the school supply isle...mmm mmm good.

Ah - that's what the special "sharpener" was for on the back of the 64-crayon box. Not to sharpen the crayons: who the hell sharpens crayons?? It was to refresh the huff-able-sniffiness of the crayons. mmmmm

I thought it was for making little piles of shavings with which to make faux stained glass art by melting them gently on tinfoil.

Wow, that's artsy. Mostly I just got the shavings stuck to places that would result in an admonition from mom or dad.

Part of the smell is the new paper the crayons were wrapped with. I never did take the paper off and color with the side of the crayon. It was nifty!

I used a little spoon, and a lighter, to melt my crayons ... then you gently tie your arm off with surgical tubing ... er ... oops.

                Never mind.

I colored pictures of puppies and kittens. Inside the lines.
