PS -
Mon, November 15, 2004 - 5:27 PMplease note, a heretofore unrealized benefit of playing Scrabble with people who AREN'T good enough to play in the tourneys is that the word lists are easier to make poems from ... ;-)

EUREKA!! - and it even *kind* of makes sense
Sat, November 20, 2004 - 12:03 PMLouie krait am wedeling frenzy:
Coxae am snap! Ow!
Krait hied, brood in soq.
Flamiest cygnet am orange, bluish, aquatone!
Jo am cygnet -- krait SNAP jo.

Re: EUREKA!! - and it even *kind* of makes sense
Sat, November 20, 2004 - 7:18 PMBut it DO make sense, it DO!! All the words were taken from the game that Travis posted, though I did use some words twice. I wasn't left with much option but to use "am" for everything from "was" to "did" to "was like a" ... so when you see "am" take it loosely - though I think it does lend a sort of e.e. cummings feel to the whole thing. All the definitions I took from the Official Scrabble Dictionary - some liberties were taken with tense/grammar - obviously - and some inferences are added - but I can do that: cuz, HEY, it's poetry!!! Here's the loose translation:
*ahem*
Louie krait am wedeling frenzy: (The Snakey Luitenant was skiing crazily)
Coxae am snap! Ow! (He broke both hips!! Ow!!)
Krait hied, brood in soq. (The Luitenant fled to nurse his wounds in numerous small marketing cities in Northern Africa)
**here's where the love interest enters - note the mythical quality of her introduction***
Flamiest cygnet am orange, bluish, aquatone! (Lo, the young swan: she burns like the sunset)
Jo am cygnet -- krait SNAP jo. (She becomes his lover - he breaks his sweetheart's heart)
Jo hied via tepa - via areolae. (The sweetheart's soul fled: dead from the pain that melts the chemical compound, sorrow, which beats in everyone's heart.)
Ow. (ow, oh yeah, ow)

Sat, November 20, 2004 - 7:25 PMHoly Crap Jess! That's fucking amazing. How long till the movie comes out? Oooo! I bet the costuming is gonna be fantastic! i think Jonny Depp should play the luitenant, but I'm partial. Play more scrabble so you can do it again! Again! Again! -
-
Re: EUREKA!! - and it even *kind* of makes sense
Sun, November 21, 2004 - 12:31 PMI think Johnny Depp should come over here and **** my ****
(oops - did I say that out loud??)
But seriously - you're too kind - I think the translation's a whole lot more literary than the actual poem - but it was fun - Travis? Any new word lists out there to play wif??
